As in real life, we are warned about the fact we will encounter several difficulties on our way. But how dangerous is the road ahead? How many "curves" on our way? With the help of Google Maps, Biancoshock updates the road sign indicating a more realistic route of the next kilometer of your life.

HARMEN DE HOOP: GHOST TOWN, THE SPECIALS, 1981 - OLTEN, 2020 In 1981, when The Specials wrote this song, British cities looked like ghost towns due to an economic crisis, poor housing and high unemployment. In 2020, city centers start to look like ghost towns again due to all the closed retail shops. This time the reason is not a recession, but an increase in online shopping. What do we do with all these vacant shops? How do we revitalise our inner cities?

BIANCOSHOCK: NETWORK SOCIAL DISTANCING - INSTAGRAM, 2020 Biancoshock applies the 1 mt social distancing imposed by Italian government into Instagram Stories. Utilizing a phone of 6,8 cm display width, he used IG Stories as a unit of measure to keep his message 1 mt away from his virtual 'neighbors'. The social distancing universally imposed to fight the virus contagion has further increased the fear we are living today. The fear of contagion is changing social habits: people limit their contacts and stay distant, moving their social relations on Social Networks, considered as the safest communication tool. Are we really sure that moving life into the virtual world is not even more fearful?

20.02.2020 BIANCOSHOCK GAVE HARMEN DE HOOP AN ASSIGNMENT: MAKE A WORK ABOUT ART.
HARMEN DE HOOP: PAINTING IS DEAD - OLTEN, 2020 'The death of painting' is debated for almost two centuries now. In 1839, at the first glimmering of photography, the French painter Paul Delaroche said 'From today, painting is dead'. In 1921, Aleksandr Rodchenko pronunced his monochromes 'the end of painting', and in the 1960's Ad Reinhardt said 'I am making the last painting which anyone can make'. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to stop anybody. Today's painting is labelled 'zombie formalism' or 'zombie abstraction' (does it mean that painting is dead and walks around like a zombie?). The question is, are there still people interested in painting, who still believe it's alive? Come, sit with me around the fire and join the discussion about 'the death of painting' (or its rebirth).

BIANCOSHOCK: TRIPTYCH - PAVIA, 2020 Recently many factories have been closed due to the crisis, creating social and environmental damages. Institutions are unable to deal with this topic and they tend to promote decorative muralism as a vehicle to embellish this problem. Mimicking this policy Biancoshock used gold paint and metal chains to transform a corner of decay into an artistic triptych: The Triptych of Decay.
